end of a great year.

And here is my final bulletin board for the school year. I figured it was kind of pointless to do one for June since we have like a week and a half left of school!

On a FREAKING AMAZING NOTE, I have been offered a TEACHING JOB for the upcoming fall! It's still a shock and it doesn't feel real yet, but it will be soon! I'm sure I'll have more blog updates as my new school year gets closer and starts...I can't wait to see my classroom and share pics!

Well, I guess I forgot about adding my bulletin boards to the blog here. So here are the ones I've done!
Here is what we did for February. I love the streaks of snow behind Snoopy so it actually looks like he's moving. We also put glitter on the word "sleds."

For March we wanted to go with a reading theme since March is reading month! I REALLY like how I made the sun, because it almost looks 3 dimensional. Our original board didn't have Woodstock on it, but we decided it would be a nice touch to add him. I even created a book for him to look at and a stack of books next to him so he could be like Snoopy.

And now we have April. I used our "snow" to create clouds. It took me FOREVER to cut out all those raindrops. At the last minute I decided to put puddles for Snoopy and Woodstock to walk through.

According to the resource teacher, I could run my own "bulletin board making business" and make lots of money...haha :) I'm already starting my plans for May's bulletin board!

january bulletin board.

Here is the January bulletin board! Once we used the glitter glue on last month's bulletin board, I've become obsessed with finding ways to use on other boards! There is glitter on Snoopy's hat and Charlie Brown's scarf. I also used glitter on the letters of the saying. I did the letters differently this month so I could fit the entire saying on the board. I think it turned out GREAT! Stay tuned for February's board! :)

december bulletin board.

It's been up for a few weeks, but here is our December bulletin board! It's my absolute FAVORITE so far, I don't know how we can beat it! We put glitter on the Christmas lights to make it look like they were shining. The glitter on the letters was a last minute decision, but I think it looks GREAT! I'm proud of my work :)

bulletin boards

So after I was hired last January, I've been asked to create fun bulletin boards for our resource room. I never thought I was creative when it came to things like that, but I guess it turns out I might be! Every bulletin board I've done, I've taken a picture. Here is my collection so far:

Here is my first bulletin board. I created this in March 2011 and it stayed up for pretty much the rest of the school year.

I created this one for the beginning of the school year. We start school the first of August, so this stayed up for the entire month.

After the August bulletin board, the ladies I work with and I collaborated to come up with the idea that we could have kind of a "progressive" and "moving" bulletin board that would change every month while utilizing some things from the previous month. Here is the one we created for September.

Our September bulletin board evolved into our October bulletin board. My resource teacher LOVES Snoopy, so the rest of our boards will most likely have a Snoopy theme.

And here is our November bulletin board. This one is my favorite so far. I love the straw coming out of Snoopy's hands and hat.

These boards have been so fun to create! I love working with my ladies at school to come up with ideas for the next month. I can't wait to see what we come up with for December....stay tuned for a picture of it and the rest of the boards I create from now on! :)

oh the things Kindergartners say....

This morning, my little buddy kept telling me that I'm so nice to him, or I'm a good friend to him, or that I'm a very nice lady. The things he says to me make me laugh! I also had another little girl run up to me, hug me and say "You are like a mother to me!" and I'm pretty sure I do nothing "mother-like" for her...haha :)

Oh and here is a story from last Wednesday: I was working with my little buddy on reading. We were reading through a list of words. We got to the word "shave" and he was able to sound it out. Once he did that, I asked him if he could use the word "shave" in a sentence. He replies with "I shave my mom!" I couldn't help but laugh!

KA-CHOW!

So in his mind, a kindergarten boy was a superhero today. And not just any hero, but I'm pretty sure he was Lightning McQueen. Today he asked the teacher if he could go to the bathroom. She let him go, and he walks to the bathroom door, then turns around and comes to me cupping his hands and said, "Could you hold my super powers?" Holding back laughter I said, "You can set them on the table." he replies, "Ok!" and 'sets the powers down' and heads to the bathroom. My little buddy actually believed that he left something on the table and he kept looking around the table for his "super powers." When he was done in the bathroom, he busts out the door and yelled "KA-CHOW!!" (Lightning McQueen's 'catchphrase'). The teacher and I just laugh. He spent the rest of the day saying "KA-CHOW!" at random moments. You seriously cannot help but laugh!
