presents & laughs

Today was filled with lots of presents and laughs :)

Katelyn came in this morning and handed me a letter, with a Dora stamp inside. Not too long after, Elise came in with a plastic bag and handed it to me and said, "Here, a present for you!" I was taken back, but I opened the bag and inside was a small wooden box (like a a jewelry box) and she had colored flowers all over it and attached a note with a picture that said "I love you!" It was one of those things that made me smile!

At my school, when students receive a green ticket for showing good behavior, they place their green ticket in a bin for prize drawings. When they place their green ticket in the bin, they also get a green stamp. One student, Addy, received a green ticket. She asked me if she could take her green ticket down to the office to put it in the bin and get her stamp. When she returned, I had to take a second look at her because she had taken the stamp and stamped two paw prints over her eyes, and almost looked like a clown! It was too funny :)

At the end of the day, my cooperating teacher, Mrs. Carnes, was going over robust vocabulary with my students. One of the words was "gullible" and my teacher was explaining the meaning of the word to the class. Another teacher, Mrs. Wells, a GVSU math professor on sabbatical and helping out with math in Jenison elementary schools, was in the classroom as well. While Mrs. Carnes is talking about gullible, Mrs. Wells chimes in and says, "Mrs. Carnes, did you know that gullible is not in the dictionary?" Mrs. Carnes starts saying, "Really? Is it not really a word? Did they take it out?" I start to laugh because I knew what Mrs. Wells was doing. Mrs. Wells finally says, "Mrs. Carnes, you are being gullible, because you believed me!" Mrs. Carnes couldn't believe she fell for the joke and the ENTIRE class is just about rolling on the floor laughing! It was great!

Ok, I think that's enough stories for the day....I'm sure I'll have more tomorrow! Every day it's something new!
